Career Learning Goals
Learning goal 1.1:
The student is able to conduct reasearch according to predetermined methods in which coherence is created between a problem, analysis, trends and solution.
How I have accomplished the learning goal:
I accomplished this learning goal when we did the project about Holy Moly. In this project, we went through the A, B, C and D phase of the ABCDEF- model of Imagineering. In the A phase, we looked at the identity of Holy Moly, its competitors and trends and developments. In the B phase, we did a creative session in which we asked things such as how Breda could stand out in creating the best nightlife for students. Through this, we got more insights into the target group. Then we did the C- Phase. In the C- phase we gathered ideas to create our concept. Eventually, we did our D- phase, which was all about the engineering and designing of our final concept.
Also, I accomplished this learning goal because of the assignment for Glimble. With this, we also needed to solve Glimble’s problem with their marketing. We made an analysis of their company and DTRH, looked at the trends and developments, made multiple personas, looked at the industry, and eventually came up with a solution to their problem.
What I have learned:
I have learned that a creative session with a few people from the target group could really help by getting an insight into the whole target group, and what they think and want to experience. Also, I learned from Goedzooi that sometimes the best thing to do when you get stuck is to throw your whole concept away and create a totally new one. With Glimble I also learned that when being stuck sometimes you need to kill your darlings and look in another direction. Also, I learned that doing research into the target group is really useful to get a deeper understanding of the target group and to eventually come up with a better concept.
What went wrong:
We were so busy with holding on to our old concept that we lost a lot of time because we got stuck when working out this concept. This was mainly because we focussed on practicality first instead of just being creative and then, later on, looked at practicality. With the Glimble project, we also got stuck because we had some great ideas which we held onto instead of letting them go and moving on.
What I still want/need to learn:
I liked the way Goedzooi worked and I would like to get as creative as they are. I think this could be something I could practice, but then I also sometimes need to let go of thinking about practicality, which would be quite a challenge.

Learning goal 1.2:
The student is aware of the difference between personal preference, personal moral conviction, different cultural perspectives and a manager’s professional responsibility – The student also understands how moral and immoral behaviour impacts the immediate and professional leisure environment.
How I have accomplished the learning goal:
When working on the stakeholder meeting for strategy we made up a few roles who also had different cultures. In our stakeholder meeting, we tried to take into account their cultures. This was sometimes hard because they were played roles so sometimes we would forget. Furthermore, I think the project proposal for Glimble contributed to accomplishing this learning goal because for Glimble our final product could be seen as not very inclusive. We made a tree with a bar in it and a zipline to go over the festival. Also, I think working together with my classmates really gave an insight into the preferences of people and their cultures, since everyone comes from a different country or city and grew up differently. Also, at work, my manager is a friend but when working together we need to be serious and I need to listen.
What I have learned:
I think I learned that something that is normal for me is not always normal to another person. Also, I learned that when talking to people you really need to take into account their background to for example not insult them. I learned that for a lot of people, it is hard to know whether their manager is a friend or whether they need to be serious and listen to them.
What went wrong:
When doing the stakeholder meeting practices we sometimes forgot to keep in mind the different cultural backgrounds of the roles we played. Also, when talking to classmates I sometimes tend to forget their background and sometimes because of this maybe came over as a rude person.
What I still want/need to learn:
I still would like to learn how to cope better with different cultures, like how to talk, to greet etc. Also, I think I still need to learn how to cope with something which is normal in another culture and rude in our culture.

Learning goal 1.3:
The student is able to initiate and develop a vision of value-driven innovations and the role of music in our society by analyzing topics in the music industry such as social sustainability, accessibility, leadership, music education and diversity (between groups and types of employees).
How I have accomplished the learning goal:
I accomplished this learning goal by doing the design sprint about making a concept for Our House. For this we needed to learn more about house music and the museum Our House, also we needed to find out what interests people and how do you get them to learn something.
Also, I think I accomplished this learning goal because of the assignment for Glimble. Because in this assignment we also took into account sustainability and accessibility.
What I have learned:
Because of the design sprint in which we needed to come up with a concept for Our House, I learned more about music education. About how important it is, how most people do not know where the music they listen to comes from, and how we can teach people about music. The history of for example the House genre also showed me how important music is for society and what happens to people when they cannot listen to music anymore. I learned that it is hard to take sustainability and accessibility into account when coming up with a brand activation, because we first thought about the concept and what it should look like, and then we looked at sustainability and accessibility.
What went wrong:
It was very hard to come up with a clear, easy, movable concept for Our House since we also wanted to do something big. Furthermore, working in the design sprint week was sometimes a bit hard because we did not yet know each other and each other’s cultures. We eventually came up with a concept for Glimble which was not very accessible for everyone, for example, people with overweight or a handicap.
What I still want/need to learn:
I found out that I am very interested in the history and development of music and the music industry and that I would like to know more about the different genres and how they came to life.

Learning goal 2.1:
The student is able to assume different roles during the organisation of the MADE Talks connected to the different roles in the business units: concept developer, stakeholder manager (strategy), marketing manager or production leader. Within these different roles the student is able to act as a self-regulating professional, with empathetic ability and an open and analytical attitude, observe and listen without prejudice while continuously self-reflecting on their own role and the relationship between their role and the other roles in the team.
How I have accomplished the learning goal:
For the stakeholder meeting with strategy, the stakeholder meeting for communication, or the various made talks, we divided different roles. For this role, we needed to do some research into the type of role and person and also into the roles of group mates to see how to get along with their roles.
What I have learned:
I learned that it is really hard for me to keep to my role because I tend to do more or want to do more. Also, I thought it was very difficult to find out what does and does not belong to my role as well as find the details about specific things my role has to do. For example, with strategy, I was the mayor and it was very hard to find out what she did because there could not be found a lot online and when texting municipalities they did not respond.
What went wrong:
It went wrong with the MADE talks, because of the lack of communication and motivation in my group. I was almost all of the roles with the first MADE talk, which means I could not focus on one specific role.
What I still want/need to learn:
I think I still need to learn how to cope with dividing tasks and then keeping to my task. In addition, I would like to learn more about the other roles to understand them better and work better together.

Learning goal 2.2:
The student is able to take ownership of their learning by creating their own Festival Map including changes for your own career, a vision of their position in the industry, and initiating a self-conscious attitude towards learning, knowledge of the industry and critically reflect on actions while trying new things and daring to make mistakes.
How I have accomplished the learning goal:
I have accomplished this goal by filling in the festival map with my own goals, talents, and dreams. After this, I have tried to accomplish these goals and dreams by working very hard in the industry. Also, I have accomplished these goals and dreams by making more contact within the industry. For example, when working somewhere I introduced myself to everyone and always worked hard, detailed and correct in order to make an impression. Because of this, I now have the internship I wanted. I tried to work on my time management goal, which I already improved a lot but I think I can still do better.
What I have learned:
I learned from my own experience for example I already had a job and I thought about how I got it and that is when I found out it was because of working hard. Also, I learned from other students and what they did to get their jobs or internship.
What went wrong:
The time management goal went a bit wrong. I had great time management, but then I got ill and everything slipped away. After this, I tried to get back on track and also make schedules for myself but this did not yet really work out.
What I still want/need to learn:
I still need to learn what type of schedule works best for me and also how I can get myself to follow this schedule.

Learning goal 2.3:
The student is able to contribute to the development of the MADE Community.
How I have accomplished the learning goal:
At the MADE Waves, I have spoken to a few first-year students to give them a bit more information about the second year. Furthermore, I have sent a message in the Industry Work teams channel, because the festival I am doing the decorations for is looking for more volunteers. I hope by this people who sign up are also able to get more experience.
I also accomplished these learning goals by contributing to the MADE community by arranging guest lectures, for example, the guest lecture by Trigion Safety Group or the guest lecture by YourProductions. I also contributed by making the MADE talk youtube video called The New Wave.
What I have learned:
I learned that it is very hard for first-year students to make a choice and that they are most of the time also a bit scared to take the first step to ask a question, so I learned that I could be the one to take the first step. And I learned that overall it is not that hard to arrange a guest lecture and people can really learn a lot from it.
What went wrong:
I could have perhaps sent the message about volunteering for Werfpop earlier. Also, I think it would have helped if there was anything to earn by being a volunteer, but unfortunately, there is not a lot and it is in the summer so it also will not help people to get more hours for their industry hours. The youtube video turned out a lot shorter than we wanted it to be, because of a lack of communication and motivation and because of this, we started too late.
What I still want/need to learn:
I would like to learn how to get big groups motivated to do something, instead of getting only half of the group motivated to do something or to volunteer.

Personal Learning Goals
1. Improve my time management.
How I have accomplished the learning goal:
I think I got better at this goal, but I still have not yet accomplished it. I improved my time management by trying to put multiple things on one day and then also really doing them. But I still did not reach the improvement I wanted. Because that is to create more whole free days instead of half ones, to do everything on my to-do list, to plan more ahead, and to have less stress.
What I have learned:
I have learned that when making a planning it is very handy if I actually do what is on my planning instead of having the planning and not keeping to it. Also, I learned that it is very hard for me to make a correct planning which I keep to.
What went wrong:
It went wrong because I got ill and then stopped making and keeping myself to the planning.
What I still want/need to learn:
I would like to learn how to make a good planning which I can keep to. I also would like to learn how I can make sure that I keep to the planning, for example with reminders or other tricks.
2. Get an internship I really want at a famous event or company.
How I have accomplished the learning goal:
I accomplished this goal by getting an internship at Eurosonic Noorderslag (ESNS). I did this by working hard the whole year and by making sure my CV looked great. Then I send them an email via their contact form about the internship. After this, I was invited to meet them in Groningen, so I went there and we had a talk. This talk was really great and it immediately felt right. A week later I got a call that they chose me to do the internship.
What I have learned:
That when working hard and making sure you stand out, people are more willing to offer you a job at their company. Also when doing this, people are more willing to help.
What went wrong:
I also send emails via different people in my network to MOJO, since this is also a company I would like to do an internship at. But unfortunately, all of these people responded that they sent it to the HR department because this department is about internships. But they did not respond and I also think they still will respond.
What I still want/need to learn:
I still want to learn how to get into contact with MOJO in order to do my following internship there, because I think there is a lot I can learn from them.
3. Get to know more people in the industry, so they will also contact me when looking for someone to work for them.
How I have accomplished the learning goal:
Because of working at Gebr. de Nobel and Werfpop, I have met a lot of people from the music industry in Leiden. Since the beginning of 2023, I have been asked for multiple jobs because people heard from me via their friends or colleagues. For example, this was also how I got asked to be a stage manager at Peel Slowly and See and how I got to work at Popronde. I even got a phone call from a man I did not know asking if I could work as a stage manager at a festival in Den Haag called Rewire Festival, but unfortunately, I was unavailable that day.
What I have learned:
I learned that when having a medium broad networking in the industry it can go to a very broad network really fast. Also, I learned that the industry is not that big and that one way or another everyone always knows everyone and every festival.
What went wrong:
I sometimes forget to introduce myself to everyone because when I am busy working I sometimes do not have time.
What I still want/need to learn:
I would like to learn how to make better use of my network, and how to expand it even more.
